I think the problem I have with such games is that they rapidly become so top heavy. Skilled players with a lot of practice rapidly dominate and then inevitably become extremely hostile to newcomers.

What I love about TF2 is how welcoming it is, and how it seems to be aimed at those of us who love to find a middle ground of fun and challenge, rather than those who would prefer to play 'Fox only, Final Destination' as it were.

Well the war has ended today and the Soldiers have emerged victorious! I'd say my 9 demoman kills were the deciding ones, except we (Soldiers) won with a margin of over 30.000 kills :o

The new update seems sweet, with new achievements and kit for the Demoman and Soldier. It's free to play for everyone again this weekend, so there should be plenty of servers to score achievements on these coming days :)

I wonder when the Engineer will get an update though, that's pretty much my favourite class (Soldier coming in second, yay!). There's a lot they could do with an Engineer update, new kit and achievements. Sweet.

So yeah, Team Fortress 2, still a good game to play and getting better with every (free!!) update. However, I have to admit that I prefer the more challenging multiplayer shooters. No, not CS or MW, those are skill-capped games (can't improve beyond a certain - very low - threshold). I'm talking about Quake, UT, RtCW, W:ET, Tribes... hardcore shooters. Definitely not the most popular games, but they are the most challenging, both in terms of base skills and intelligence required, and therefore also offer the most rewarding play experience (imo).

Had a go again today, doubled my playing time for the demo. It was originally 32 minutes.

All I really want is the sword, I'm not so bothered about anything else from this update. However, I have loved the comics and general exploration of the TF2 story (or creation of one rather).

Whose everyone fighting for? When I play I'm a career spy so all this crossfire isn't good news for me. About time I booted TF2 back up though.
