Trials 1.50

In the Steam January sale I picked up a copy of Trials 2 for £1.50. Absolute fucking bargain.

Trials 2: balanced

It’s like Dirt Bike which I was banging on about not long ago but fully 3D. You still control it in 2D mind but the new graphics make it unbelievably pretty.

Trials 2: giz a hug

As well as being prettier, it’s far more in depth than it’s flash counterpart. We are talking about weight distribution, centers of gravity, energy release and squirrels (you’ll see). It’s tricky, but unbelievably cool. I say tricky, it can be ridiculously hard sometimes. Sections have taken me 50 odd attempts to clear but it really is a case of ‘practice makes perfect’. I am getting considerably better at it all and when I replay tracks I do them much faster and with less frustration. It’s not because of remembering how to do each section but because I understand the physics of the bike better. I ‘get it’ more.

Trials 2: super duper man

Anyway, if you can get it cheap somewhere it’s well worth it. There are online leader boards (which you can race against any ghost or watch any replay), IRC chat (that no ones in), downloadable tracks (they download in about a second) and a counter for how many bones you break in a fall.

Trials 2: i can do it

You will love it, get stuck, hate it, get unstuck, love it and repeat. You will crash in such an absurd way you will laugh. You will crash in such an unfortunate way you will cry. The end of each level is always the same though – ‘one more then I’m done’

Trials 2: ladders

It is only normally £6 on Steam – and while cheap for such a polished game I think it’s just the wrong side of a fiver for me to give it a 100% recommendation. I’d say play the demo at least and go from there.

Trials 2: well cook me

At £1.50 though, fucking bargain.
