I couldn’t admire my new ninja kit forever – I had a job to do. Fargoth has a stash of money hidden somewhere and he’s not rushing in giving away the location. Three nights I watch him for, stalking him from the ground, trying to see him from the lighthouse, running headfirst into him in the hope he’ll do something. Anything. No dice. I get bored and have a look around town. Near where I docked in there is a Customs Warehouse but it’s locked. Now might be time to test my ninjareyness.

My starsign is The Tower. Amongst other things this grants me a spell which picks a medium lock instantly once a day. I cast it on the door which I soon find out is illegal. A guard comes running over and demands I either go to jail or pay a hefty fine of 5 gold. 5 gold. Is it worth him literally running over here for the sake of 5 gold? I pay him anyway and he lets me on my way. My way is straight inside the warehouse.

Inside is full of boxes which are filled with stuff. Armour, ingredients, weapons, random pottery. I steadily clear it out, carrying as much as I can to the local shop, selling it all, then heading back and doing the same. At one point I sell him my ninja mask that I wasn’t wearing…he does though.

I carry on looking around the warehouse and stumble upon a room which has a woman in at accompanied by a guard and a big stack of money. It’s just there, on the desk. 100 gold ready for the taking, but these people can’t see me do it because I’m pretty sure stealing is more illegal than unlocking a door. I wait and wait, then finally no one is watching. I grab the cash, but loudly. The woman shouts and reports me to the guard. Bugger bugger bugger.
I make a swift exit but as soon as I do it seems the problem is going to be worse than I thought, Seyda Neen is full of guards afterall.
For one reason or another none of the guards chase me. They don’t seem to care that I’ve completely burglarised a building and been caught, instead they just carry on with their business. I go back to the Trade house and try to buy some supplies. The high elf behind the counter is snotty with me – “everyone knows you’ve got a price on your head” he says. Everyone else in the town takes the same attitude. Oh fine, I decide to go and confess to my hideous crime. The guard looks at me sternly as he gives me the bad news. There is a 90 gold fine. What? I stole 100. I went stealing, got caught, and I’m still in profit. Fair enough, I run away before he realises his mistake.

There is still the matter of Fargoths money and he still isn’t budging. I decide to take matters into my own hands and have a look around where I saw him snooping. In the middle of a stagnant, stinking pond thing is a tree stump that I know is hollow just by looking at it. I have a rummage inside and find 300 gold and a couple of probes I can use for disarming traps. Excellent, take that Fargoth. I excitedly run to the Nord in the bar and tell him.
He rewards me 100 gold and tells me to keep the probes. If I was less stupid about this I would have kept the whole lot and never spoke to the Nord again, but live and learn. Inside the bar I feel a bit awkward as everyone has just gone silent and is staring at me. I paid my fine, OK guys? You can drop it now.

For now I think I’m done with Seyda Neen. There isn’t really much going on here and the locals don’t seem to like me. I need somewhere bigger with more places to rob. There is a guy I need to see in Balmora so I suppose I should head there. I follow the road there taking out a few creatures I meet on the way (harder than you think with a bow and cross-hair turned off). The road to Balmora is stunningly beautiful.

Eventually I arrive and Balmora spreads before me. The city of opportunity.
